Searching for a product development engineer for our automotive engineering projects. Leads product development activities per our product development process. Supports and implements plans to meet our corporate initiatives aligned with the company’s Automotive Strategy while working with an automotive team. WE DO NOT NEED A CHEMICAL ENGINEER OR A PURE ELECTRICAL ENGINEER TO JOIN AT THIS TIME, THANK YOU.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Materials Science, Master of Science preferred.
- Certifications: Six Sigma Greenbelt certification preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in product development/process engineering.
- Knowledge of magnet wire products and applications is preferred.
- Proficient in process engineering techniques with a strong focus on modern, state-of-the-art equipment.
- Hands-on experience with both production and lab equipment.
- Commitment to continuous improvement in design, testing practices, and overall manufacturing processes.
- Strong project planning and management skills, specifically in automotive product development practices (APQP).
- Ability to solve problems using engineering first principles.
- Capable of listening, leading, contributing based on the situation, and working effectively within a team environment.
- Excellent customer communication skills.
Essential Duties:
- Spearhead technical efforts on assigned automotive product development projects.
- Plan and organize project activities across all phases (Phase 0 to Phase 5) of our product development process, including generating concise status updates and detailed engineering reports.
- Translate customer requirements into technical specifications and testing protocols.
- Conduct and lead DFMEAs, identify potential risks, and engineer effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Determine necessary validation and verification activities to satisfy both internal design requirements and customer specifications.
- Lead internal design reviews in accordance with our design control standards and effectively present findings in customer design reviews.
- Utilize design for lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Collaborate with laboratory resources to complete all testing activities as outlined in the test plan.
- Work closely with the automotive team to enhance skills and expand the capabilities of our automotive division.
- Support any activities necessary to meet project milestones as a core member of the Automotive Engineering group.
